Great Divide Workshop
August 14-17, 2025
A 4-day bike pack education and riding experience geared towards helping prepare riders for the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route and/or Tour Divide. It’s certainly not limited to riders with that goal but many of the discussions will revolve around and be referencing what one might come across on the Divide route itself.
Great Divide Workshop
A 4-day bike pack education and riding experience geared towards helping prepare riders for the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route and/or Tour Divide. It’s certainly not limited to riders with that goal but many of the discussions will revolve around and be referencing what one might come across on the Divide route itself.
Whether you’re taking the summer or taking 3 weeks to ride the GDMBR, this workshop will help you prepare for “Life on the Divide.”
JayP has raced the route 8 times, section toured it, ridin’ with clients on it, consulted with individuals racing it, and lives next to it. Tracey, Jay’s wife, also has extensive experience with the route.
You are guaranteed to learn a lot and have fun!
We will go through bike set-up and gear (kit) while also discussing the pluses and minuses of the many differences in choices. We will talk about goals, strategies, and mindset. We will also talk specifically about the Great Divide Route and the different things to expect and prepare for along the way. Jay will probably even give you some intel on some good places to bivy and the best places to eat! While this is not necessarily a “training” camp we are doing a 2-night 3-day tour to gain experience on many of the bikepack aspects while also using your gear. There will naturally be simulation tasks such as water purification, changing layers, eating while riding, bivy set-up, food resupply etc. providing the opportunity to practice and become more familiar and efficient with your gear and the work that needs to be done daily. There will be ongoing conversations about all elements of bikepacking, racing, and suggestions on different ways to do different things to help set yourself up for success!
Location: The BikeTender Studio in Victor Idaho. Riding will take place from the studio and head north towards Yellowstone National Park. It’s also where the Tour Divide Route comes through Idaho.
Guides: JayP and Jacob Hora. TraceyP will be providing us with our meals and snacks. 🙂
Cost: $1500
